The South American OTIC (SAOC) at CPQD supports the Open RAN ecosystem across South America. Recognized as EMBRAPII's Excellence Center in Open Networks (EXCCON), CPQD leverages its expertise in R&D and regulatory compliance testing. SAOC offers testing and integration services for O-RAN components, including conformance, interoperability, security, and deployment readiness. It fosters collaboration through PlugFests, hackathons, and research projects while driving Open RAN standardization. By providing certification and performance optimization, SAOC ensures compliance and real-world effectiveness. CPQD aims to strengthen Open RAN adoption in Latin America, delivering cutting-edge solutions aligned with evolving industry standards.
SAOC OTIC specializes in testing O-RAN solutions, focusing on subsystems, interoperability, and end-to-end performance in indoor and outdoor environments. Tests cover security, RF measurements, and legacy system integration across various frequencies (FR1, TDD, FDD). The scope includes gNB, O-RU, O-DU, O-CU, and combinations, supporting both 5G SA and LTE. Testing environments range from small cell setups to outdoor macro cells with attenuators for safety. Key interfaces like OFH-CUSM, F1-C/U, X2-C/U, and RIC (Near-Real-Time and Non-Real-Time) are evaluated. Security testing is phased, and the lab hosts PlugFest events, offering certifications for compliance and interoperability
